Pray for Our Leaders

As we close out 2017 all I can say is that there has been a lot of headline news and a lot of it has not been good.

Any good news has been over-shadowed by the terrible acts committed around the world with the loss of innocent lives.  There have been many natural disasters and Canada and the United States have had more than their fair share.

Anyone who denies that the natural disasters that are worsening is not as a result of what humanity has done to this planet by way of pollution and activities that are impacting the atmosphere around us is walking around with his or her head buried in the sand.  Or, and sadly this could be true too, they know it is true, but to address and confront the issue might mean that they would lose some of their sources of wealth and prosperity.

If that is the case they are in essence telling us that it doesn’t matter the cost of human life if it keeps the money flowing into their pockets.  Lord, have mercy on us all.

We look to one another for solutions.  At one time what we call America was considered to be the greatest nation in the world.  I live in Canada and of course believe it to be the greatest country in the world.

It doesn’t matter who we think is the greatest this or that because no matter who we choose, we are all flawed.  Not a human is infallible and therefore no country or nation is without flaw.

When we put anyone up on a pedestal, we are making ‘gods/goddesses’ out of them and as far as I know, no person has attained that status.

What happened in Scriptures when someone wanted to build him/herself up to be as good as, if not greater than God/YHWH.  Enter the destruction of the Tower of Babel.

Authority & Power

PeopleinBibleCharactersNo one remains in a position of power and authority without the permission of YHWH/Creator/God.  Everything created belongs to the Creator.  Neither Trump nor Trudeau holds their positions as president and prime minister without YHWH’s consent.

Pharaoh remained in power, even though he persecuted many.  YHWH used that mind and attitude of Pharaoh to prove who is in ultimate control and power.  The Lord used the weaker person to prove to the stronger that He is in control.

Check out the list of the people used by YHWH, and what their personalities were like!

Think about little David, the boy who defeated the giant Goliath with a slingshot.  David overcame the giant because David believed in the power of YHWH and His faithfulness.

Do you really believe that YHWH has the power to overcome and set right the terrible things that we not so human-kind are doing to one another?  Do you have the faith that David had, that allowed YHWH to show His mighty power?

If you believe as I believe, then what is the answer, what can we do?  We are only humans, weak and imperfect.  So was David. So was my friend Daniel who faced the fires and the lions and came out unscathed.

Those aren’t just cute little fables.  Those are true stories of victory against all odds.

The same thing for my gal Esther!  Because of her faith and belief in YHWH, she saved the Hebrew children.

What did all of these biblical heroes and heroines do that gave them the ability to stand up and overcome impossible situations?

They prayed and they believed and they had faith in the faithfulness of YHWH and His Word.

People in Authority Are Servants of YHWH

Democratic countries vote their people into office.  They hold their office because we voted for them.  No matter what we do in this life, whatever our position, we only hold that position because YHWH permits us to do so.  At any time He can and will work through another human being, in some way, if He wants them removed from their position of authority.

In a democratic society if our leaders don’t work out, we are stuck with them until the next election.  So what can we do in the meantime?

We can and we must pray for Divine intervention, especially when lives are at stake. Pray4Leaders YHWH can either work through you and I to have them removed, or He will answer the fervent prayers of the righteous to intervene and change the minds and hearts of our leaders, just like He did with pharoah who finally released the Hebrews from the captivity in Egypt.

Despite what you or I think, the Lord can make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

Trying to inject a little humour into a sombre conversation; hope you smiled, a bit.

Pray for Our Leaders

YHWH never changes; He simply is all present and everlasting.  We are at a terrible boiling point; on the brink of self-destruction and we must gather together and seek the helping Hand of Creator.  Our prayers unite and this positive action will have an impact.  Because it is a flow of positive energy it can only produce positive results.

1 Tim 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

So, this is my final request, that we stand, kneels, sit or lay down together as ONE, coming together in agreement before the Throne of the Almighty that He intervene.

A Prayer

Create in us Oh Father, a Clean Heart, a New Heart, a Heart that rules and reigns guided by acts of kindness, compassion, love, understanding, caring, sharing.  Just as You are all these things Father, so too are we who are created in Your Image.  Help us to unveil this beauty within each of us and to live by the Light of Love, not by power that is born out of greed, lust, cruelty and all those things that attempt to tear down.

We pray this Father, in Yeshua’s Holy Name.  A-men and A-men and A-men.
