I think it’s cool that this is the title that came up as I sat to write this blog, given the Olympics are currently happening!
Some of you may have read what I had to say about the restoring Spirit to the “right” order as it relates to the saying we see “mind-body-spirit”. Well during meditation that same idea came to me with respect to what we have called the “3rd Eye” (or is it “I”).
The third eye area is located in the mid point between our two eyes, which must make them 1st and 2nd eyes. If you think about the arrangement,
- the 3rd eye is like a bridge connecting the left and right eyes; or
- perhaps the 3rd eye is a repository of things gathered, garnered and perceived by our eyes; or
- the 3rd eye receives from the eyes, interprets and returns to the eyes with the ‘content’ of what they will see
As this is being written I am think, “all of the above.”
The 3rd eye is the 6th Chakra or Brow Chakra and its related to the supreme element, a combination of all elements in their purest form. I’ve provided a little info in this single slide.
When the 3rd eye (brow chakra) is out of balance you will display some of the following symptoms:
- lack of concentration, the mind flitting here and there
- spending far too much time in self-evaluation with no results
- narrow focus with a lack of flexibility
- often religious but self-righteously so to the point of becoming tyrannical
- over analytical but missing main factors [Note to Self: Oops…am I doing that now?]
- delusional or have hallucinations
What is of importance to me is the relation to the pineal gland that is in charge of regulating biorhythms, including our sleep cycles.
As an intuitive, I think I see a lot through the third eye. I know what my physical eyes see (and I am so grateful for the gift of sight). However, for the better part of my life, for as far back as I can remember, I have never, ever been a person to accept anything (pretty much) at “face value.” I’ve always thought, suggested, believed and gone and probed beneath the surface of any idea, piece of work, piece of art, etc.
I believe that when a person loses (or is born without) her sight, the Lord more than makes up for this physical loss of the hidden abilities that get activated.
I am wondering if this is what is currently going on with the third eye, its activation and our seeing beyond the realm of the physical world? For the past several years these things have been happening with me:
- I close my eyes to sleep and I can see what is in the dark room perfectly clear
- I begin to open my eyes and I see shadows and movement in the room
- with my eyes closed, often an opening of light and at times I see different people doing different activities; like I am watching a t.v. show
- with my eyes closed I see, persistently three distinct circular lights
- with my eyes closed, as of the past month or so, I am seeing as it were the dark night sky and stars upon stars upon stars …
Bottom line, folks, I see more with my eyes closed than open.
When meditation and my eyes are closed if I concentrate on each eye looking inward towards the brow area I will often get the same circular “opening” of light and have seen shapes of people and movement.
The first time I had a clear sight of anything in meditation was in 2011 when I was attending a national prayer meeting at a former Monastery in Montreal. I remember it like it was yesterday.
It was around 3 in the afternoon, I was in the ‘austere’ former monk’s room, on the single bed with the brass railing headboard, sitting with back to the wall and looking out the window at the trees and clouds. I was resting and meditating before the next meeting.
My eyes started to flicker and close, and must have closed. The next thing I see several people, in a room and my eyes bolted open. I freaked out yet immediately closed my eyes wanting to recapture what I’d seen. I wasn’t disappointed because the ‘opening’ or was it ‘image’ was still there. Because I was trying to concentrate and focus, the image (or whatever) disappeared.
It was like I had looked through a portal into another realm. That is how I now describe it and the occasions when it happens now. But, back then, I had no idea and I told no one about it.
Scripture & “Third”
This is just something to think about. Yes, I did search Scripture for “third eye” not seriously thinking I’d find it, and I didn’t. But what I did find, of course, was reference to the word “third” which brought up all kinds of references that relate to the
building of the Third Temple.
Now, come on people, stay with me and keep an open mind. Think about it. Every human being comes equipped with two temples, one on each side of the “eyes”.
The third eye is the source and coming together of the all in its purest form. Our bodies are the “temple of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit)”.
You have to agree, there has got to be something there … especially if we stop thinking about the “third temple” as being a physical structure!
You and I, we could be that third temple; just saying. The Father is a temple, the Son is another temple and the rest are the third temple? Openbible.info pulled up a whole bunch of scripture references, some of which are:
Dan 9:24-26 “Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place. Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed.”
Dan 9:27 “And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”
Rev 11:1-2 “Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.”
As a final point in this blog, below is an image that shows the pressure points just over each eye brow and on the tip of the nose that all affect the heart. The connections between the brows and the tip of the nose form an inverted triangle, whereas the connections across the brows including the third eye form an upright triangle. The tip of the triangle points-connects at the Crown Chakra.
